I am seeking to raise funds for a dear friend of mine, Catherine Kline, a single loving mother, school teacher, and good hearted caring person. She is unable to finance her legal fees just to access her basic visitation and parental rights.

My name is John Kohoutek. I am a graduate from SMU school of business. I have devoted my life to helping others. I do Christian ministry, I work with addicts and alcoholics, I confer regularly with my pastor, and diligently work with other Christian ministries in order to help those in need.

I have known Catherine and her children for approximately 10 years. During this time, I have watched Catherine struggle with her ex husband, who makes well over six figures annually. He has continuously engaged Catherine in legal issues and is trying to convince Catherine to give up her rights to her daughter. Catherine has struggled just to maintain a presence in her daughter's life, but unfortunately, in today's society, the lines have been blurred with court interference in family lives. It seems that whoever has the most money, can gain control and victimize the other by tying things up in court for years.

As a teacher, with a middle class income, she is too "wealthy" to qualify for legal aid, and is unable to secure adequate legal help because she lacks the funds. She has  lost her home; and has spent and sold everything she has in attempt to stay in her daughter's life

Many parents go to court with inadequate or no legal representation and are greatly disadvantaged; and consequently lose custody of children. I do not want to see this happen to Catherine.

"There has been a tragic trend in our family court system to take parental rights away from good mothers. There are several reasons good Mothers lose custody and the top of the list is the unfortunate reality of financial status. Fathers that have the money to take a custody battle into the family court system for several years, usually (approximately 80% of the time), wins full custody and the Mother, not only loses her 50% physical custody, but loses her parental rights, as well .” — Tragic Discrimination by our Family Court System of Good Mothers while our Children Pay the Price by Irene Watson

Catherine is a wonderful mother who cares deeply for her own children as well as others. She has devoted 23 years of her life to teaching. I have watched her do many things for others. She has raised money for her students and her school, she has donated items to the Christian home for Restoration of Dallas Ministries and I have watched her continuously take a personal interest in her students and their well being. She sacrifices her time and her money to be of help others. She has raised over $10,000 for her students and school through Donorschoose.org. You many visit her site at https://www.donorschoose.org/kline .

I would like Cathy to get the help she needs to remain in her daughter's life. Unfortunately, I am not in a financial position to help, so I am reaching out to others because I feel this is an important cause and it is the right thing to do. No one should be kept from their children due to the financial inability to pay legal expenses.

All money raised will go directly to her legal custody case, which is aimed only to get basic visitation rights. I am anticipating a favorable outcome. The final hearing is scheduled for February 7, 2018. However, funding needs to be in place in order to continue her plight to stay a part of her daughter's life.

If anyone reading this will be generous enough to donate, all the funds raised here will go directly to lawyer fees and court filing costs.

Whatever  is received will be greatly appreciated! So if you have it in your heart to give just a dollar, please know that it'll go towards bringing a loving mother and daughter together again. If you are unable to donate anything, I still appreciate you taking the time to read this and please share this with others.
