Hello friends, family, strangers, more or less everyone, my name is Cathina. I am a mother of three beautiful and intelligent children. I currently am 27 years old, working full time, and close to graduating with a bachelor’s degree, yet sadly since 2013 I have been in a custody battle fighting for my daughter.

Originally joint custody, legal and physical was ordered. As with any custody arrangements there were ups and downs. One would imagine living in the same town and having a child with one another, two individuals could effectively co parent.

However, in mid-2016 the complexity of co-parenting became even harder than I could have ever imagined. My daughter’s father began horrendous allegations, slandered my name and did everything in his power to try and take my daughter from me. I was able to defend myself in court to every motion he attempted as they were all without evidence, hearsay and unfounded but none the less it began to put a strain on my ability to co-parent with someone who would be so malicious.

In early 2017 I moved my family to our state capital and began what I had hoped would be a fresh start. I filed for mediation as it was the first step required through the courts, additionally I requested that my daughter’s father and I change our parenting time. My daughter’s father did not comply or participate with either attempts.

After obtaining new legal representation I filed for full legal and physical custody of my daughter and through the courts it was granted on a temporary basis.

When moving forward with the permanent custody trial, despite the overwhelming evidence that custody should be granted to me on a permanent basis and no new evidence from opposing council, my daughter's father was awarded full custody.

Devastated and just in simple awe of how the court came to this decision since nothing had changed since my motion for full custody that was originally granted. I am being ordered to pay an unreasonable amount of child support since I actually work and my daughter’s father only works maybe 16 hours a week, continue paying for all of my daughter’s medical, vision and dental insurance and the first $480 of her insurance deductible! My fight for my daughter continues. I have filed a motion for retrial with a stop/hold on the order, if denied an appeal will be next.

My fight for custody of my daughter has been a long and costly one. The legal fees quickly are becoming insurmountable. If you have ever known me, you know the type of person I am and the love I hold for my children. If you wish to contribute to my fight for custody of my daughter, all financial donations you are able to make will go directly towards legal fees. No donation is too small and every penny received will be greatly appreciated.
