Hi. I'm Britt Lawson, a Registered Nurse who was arrested while acting as a volunteer street medic at Trump's inauguration protests. I was forced into a police kettle and face 8 blanket felony charges. If convicted, my livelihood is on the line.

I was arrested while protesting at Donald's Trump's Inauguration. As a Registered Nurse who currently works in oncology and spends some of my free time putting my skills to use elsewhere, I was acting as a marked volunteer medic during the inauguration day protests. After stopping to help another protester tie their shoe between treating protesters for pepper spray and other injuries, I was forced into a ~230 person police kettle and arrested.

Along with every single person in the kettle that day, I am now facing 8 blanket felony charges because I dared to provide medical care at the inauguration protests. My nursing license is on the line and up in the air.

Trial begins in late November in Washington DC, and I will not be able to work for the duration of the trial or during the immediate lead-up of status and motions hearings. I will have to pay for housing in DC and in my home city, in addition to transit costs, legal fees, and basic living expenses during and immediately following trial. I have already been traveling between home and DC for court dates since January and keeping up with both criminal defense and professional licensure defense attorney costs.

Donating to my legal fund will help me stay afloat during trial, and sends a message that you support resistance efforts and the provision of medical care to all those who need it.

Stand against the injustice of trumped up charges, spanning from Standing Rock to J20, and Trump's broad scale repression of dissident voices.
