We can't guarantee successful pregnancies & shouldn't be jailed for bad outcomes. Latice Fisher gave birth at home in April 2017 to a baby that didn't survive. She is sitting in jail in Starkville, MS on 2nd murder charges with a $10,000 bond.

Imagine if you experienced a birth at home that ended in pregnancy loss then nearly a year later you were indicted & jailed on $100,000 bail (10% $10,000 needed for a bond) that was keeping you from your family. Latice Fisher is a 32 year old wife and mother from Starkville, MS going through this exact horror.

The official details of the D.A.s alleged case are slim. What I know as a reproductive justice activist is this case mirrors a national trend to criminalize pregnancy and pregnancy outcomes especially for black women. Whether cases involve allegations of drug use during pregnancy, self induced abortion, homebirth, refusing a C-section, lack of prenatal care or refusal of specific doctors healthcare suggestions the increasing government overreach into the bodily autonomy of pregnant persons and families should disturb us all. Ideal pregnancies, ideal births and ideal birth outcomes can not be guaranteed that is why other countries don’t criminalize pregnancy the way the US does.

Latice and Charles Fisher have experienced a loss. Now they’re family is seperated. We need to raise $10,000 to get Latice home. Please donate to help make that happen. I know we can work together to get her home to her family who needs her. If we exceed the goal funds will be used to help support the family during this time.

Please donate, share, signal boost and let’s get Latice home!
